Water is a shared resource of inestimable value. Not only does it allow us to drink and to eat, but it provides us the leisure to swim, to fish, to navigate, to travel or simply to take advantage of the landscapes which it has sculpted patiently over millions of years.<\/p>\n

For all these reasons and many more, we have to protect , even enhance this resource. In these pages, you will find information not only to protect water, but also to take advantage of it in a secure fashion.<\/p>\n

The Municipal Council therefore has adopted legislation on erosion control. This requires the owners and occupants to take all necessary measures to eliminate soil erosion on their property.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

Erosion control : A major change for the health of the waterways<\/h2>\n

Erosion is the effect exerted by wind, water or ice that moves soil particles. The sensitivity of a soil to erosion depends on climate, topography, presence of vegetation and nature of the substrate. Erosion causes multiple negative impacts on environment; including the loss of organic soil necessary for plant growth, siltation of rivers and loss of wildlife habitat. Erosion releases nutrients that cause eutrophication (aging) of water bodies.<\/p>\n

Working on a shore or in a wetland<\/h2>\n

The shore and wetlands are sensitive areas of critical importance to the health of the environment. The work that can be undertaken in these areas is limited. It is usually necessary to obtain several certificates of authorization. Depending on the nature of the work, you might need to get permission from the municipality of Lac-Tremblant-Nord, of the MRC des Laurentides, the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Environment and Wildlife and Parks, Ministry Natural Resources and Wildlife and Fisheries and Oceans Canada.<\/p>\n
