PROJECT TO CREATE A PROTECTED AREA AND REINFORCE AN ECOLOGICAL CORRIDOR<\/u><\/strong><\/h4>\n

Protecting the rich ecosystems of Lac-Tremblant-Nord<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

As early as 1915, protection of Lac-Tremblant-Nord’s landscape was enshrined in the charter that led to its creation, thus consecrating the protection of its natural heritage, which continues to this day. The municipality is eager to pursue its conservation efforts in response to the concerns expressed by its citizens regarding the protection of the environment and biodiversity.<\/p>\n

The municipal territory is home to lakes with excellent water quality, maple stands, the majority of which are over 80 years old, and species with precarious status that are currently unprotected. In addition, Lac-Tremblant-Nord currently boasts three (3) protected areas recognized by the Registre des aires prot\u00e9g\u00e9es du Qu\u00e9bec<\/em>, making it a natural environment of great interest to the community.<\/p>\n

As part of SNAP Qu\u00e9bec’s Plein aire – Pour des territoires vivants et prot\u00e9g\u00e9s<\/em><\/a><\/strong> initiative, financially supported by the Minist\u00e8re de l’Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs (MELCCFP), the municipality has initiated, in collaboration with Les Amis de Lac-Tremblant-Nord<\/em>, SNAP Qu\u00e9bec<\/em> and \u00c9co-corridors laurentiens<\/em>, a project to create a protected area and strengthen an ecological corridor on its public territory.<\/p>\n

With the goal of protecting 30% of Quebec’s territory by 2030, the Quebec government has launched a call for projects entitled Make your mark<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, which aims to support conservation initiatives to increase the number of protected areas in Quebec.<\/p>\n

In response to this initiative, Lac-Tremblant-Nord submitted a proposal for a protected area project in October 2024, reflecting both the recommendations of our various partners and the comments received from our population regarding the municipality’s conservation vision.[\/vc_column_text]
